Afhalen means collecting your order yourself. Bezorgen means delivery. A vestiging is a branch or location. These three Dutch words tell you how you will receive your pizza and which Pizzadam location is involved.
Afhalen: collect the order yourself
Choose afhalen when you intend to go to the branch and pick up the food. On an English ordering page, the same service may be called “collection”, “pickup” or “takeaway”. It does not mean that someone will bring the order to your address.
Check the branch address before setting off. When you arrive, a simple phrase is “Ik kom mijn bestelling afhalen”: “I’m here to collect my order.” Have your confirmation ready so the team can identify the correct order.
Bezorgen: delivery to an address
Choose bezorgen when you want delivery. You may also see bezorging, meaning “delivery”, or bezorgadres, meaning “delivery address”. Enter the address where you want to receive the order and check whether delivery is available there.
Keep the two addresses separate: the branch address is where the restaurant is; the delivery address is where you want the food to go. A branch being in your city does not, by itself, confirm that it delivers to your address.
Vestiging: the branch handling your order
Vestiging is singular; vestigingen is plural. Pizzadam’s English website calls these locations. Use the full location name and street address to distinguish branches in the same city.
For example, Pizzadam Amsterdam Centrum is at Rozengracht 35. Pizzadam Amsterdam De Pijp is at Ferdinand Bolstraat 64h. They are different collection addresses, even though both are in Amsterdam.
Other useful labels
- Bestellen: to order. Je bestelling means “your order”.
- Menukaart: menu. Check the menu for the branch and service you select.
- Openingstijden: opening hours. Check whether the hours refer to collection or delivery.
- Gesloten: closed. Check the opening hours before trying again.
- Ordernummer: order number. Keep it handy if you contact the branch.
A collection example
Suppose you want to collect from Pizzadam Amsterdam Centrum. Open the Pizzadam ordering site, choose afhalen and check that the selected location is the branch at Rozengracht 35. Review the available collection information and your order before confirming.
After ordering, check the confirmation for the branch and collection details. If you meant to order delivery, bezorgen is the service to look for instead. Contact the selected branch if something is unclear before placing another order.
